Biography
Dr. Xiaowei Luo holds the position of Professor in the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering at the City University of Hong Kong. He earned his Ph.D. in Construction Engineering and Project Management from the University of Texas at Austin, complemented by both M.S. and B.S. degrees from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. Dr. Luo's research primarily explores areas such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), Construction Safety Management, Construction Robotics, Human-Robot Collaboration, Digital Twins, Augmented and Virtual Reality (A&VR), Building Energy Management, and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). Dr. Luo is a prolific author, having contributed numerous highly cited articles to journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters on these subjects. He has been awarded multiple research grants from various agencies, including the National Science Foundation of China, the Research Grant Council (HK), the Construction Industrial Council (CIC), the Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Council, etc. Dr. Luo serves as an associate editor for the ASCE-ASME Journal of Risk and Uncertainty in Engineering Systems, Part A: Civil Engineering, and the Journal of Smart Construction, immediate past president of the ASCE Greater China section.
